- שָׁחַם(v. חָמַם, חיּם) to be hot, dark-red.Part. pass. שָׁחוּם; f. שְׁחוּמָה. Pesik. R. s. 20 (read:) לפיכך … שנופלים בגיהנם שאש של גיהנם ש׳ היא therefore did God create Maadim (the planet Mars), intimating that they shall be thrown into Gehenna, for the fire of Gehenna is glowing red (v. ed. Fr., p. 96a>, note 2 2).
